TRANSFORM-CE – TRANSFORMing single use plastic waste into additive manufacturing and intrusion-extrusion molding feedstocks and creating a new Circular Economy model for NWE

TRANSFORM-CE – TRANSFORMing single use plastic waste into additive manufacturing and intrusion-extrusion molding feedstocks and creating a new Circular Economy model for NWE

IfaS members attended the launch event of the TRANSFORM-CE project in Manchester on February 12 and 13, 2020.

The Institute for Applied Material Flow Management (IfaS) is part of the international partner consortium under the project lead of Manchester Metropolitan University. From September 2019 to September 2023, different types of plastic wastes will be recycled and tested for usage in intrusion and extrusion moulding as well as additive manufacturing in two pilot plants, one in Manchester and one in the Netherlands. The project aims to offer companies alternatives to primary polymers and create a demand for reuse of plastic waste. Overall, the project attempts to stimulate the market launch of plastic recyclates for new products and to support companies in the use of plastic recyclates and the adaptation of circular economy models.

TRANSFORM-CE is supported by the Interreg North West Europe programme as part of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
